Bustin’ Nuts
Since ’86.

ALLTORC began in 1986 when our founder Bruce Carmichael came out from the oilfields of Texas to introduce California industry to the hydraulic torque wrench. Forty years on, we are still here, still family-owned, still working when you work.

The Beginning

ALLTORC's story began in 1986, when our founder Bruce Carmichael came out from the oilfields of Texas to introduce California industry to the hydraulic torque wrench. We showcased one product line, HYTORC, and were the original HYTORC of California.

The hydraulic torque wrench was the new tool on the block at that time. Most people had heard of it, fewer had used it, and almost nobody on the West Coast was selling, renting, calibrating, and servicing it under one roof. The phone rang, the wrench got matched to the job, and the cert came with it.

The Shift In 2008

Over the next 22 years, the industrial market completely adapted their bolting procedures to incorporate the use of hydraulic wrenches on every job. But the market had grown, hundreds of new applications for torque tooling had been found, and many new products had been developed by different manufacturers.

With that in mind, in 2008, we changed our name to All American Hydraulic Tools Inc., later shortened to ALLTORC. Our mission became to offer our clients the best tool for your job, regardless of brand.

Our product range expanded as we began to offer pneumatic, battery, and electric RAD torque wrenches, nut splitters, hydraulic bolt tensioners, pumps, and all types of bolting accessories to accommodate your complete bolting job.

What We Do Now

Still based in California after 38 years, we are an independent, family-run, WBE-owned company with our own in-house repair and calibration services and a vast rental inventory.

The five service lines that come out of that thinking are the work today: tool sales and rental, calibration, repair, on-site field bolting, and custom solutions. Every one of them runs out of the Burbank workshop. The same people who quote the tool calibrate it, build the kit, fix it when it comes back, and answer the phone next time.

That structure matters. When you ring us about a tool that came back from a turnaround misbehaving, the engineer on the other end of the phone has a fair chance of being the one who calibrated it before it shipped. There are no handoffs and no escalation paths. Just the people who do the work.

Why It Matters

ALLTORC continues to offer exceptional and personalised customer service, serving our clients 24/7 because we work when you work and we care as much about your job as you do.

Whether you bought your tools from us or not, our service center is fully stocked and we typically turn repairs around quickly. Whether you need one tool for an emergency or gang boxes full of tools for a long outage, we have you covered. The local inventory means no expedited shipping costs, no waiting for tooling to arrive.

The Instant Swap policy keeps your job running while a tool is on our bench. The Certificate of Calibration ships with every tool, every cycle, documented. That is the difference.

Industries We Serve

From our home in Burbank, ALLTORC has worked alongside the major players in the industries that hold the West together:

  • Oil & Gas, where spark-free pneumatic torque tools keep refineries, pipelines, and gasoline operations safe
  • Petrochemical, where the joints holding explosive and volatile compounds cannot afford to leak
  • Refineries, where 24/7 access to torque wrenches prevents leaks and stops them as they happen
  • Aerospace, where every component is put together exactly to spec because the airframe has to withstand operating loads
  • Wind Energy, where the E-RAD has the most storied reputation in the industry and battery tools bring efficiency to the tower
  • Mining, including OTR equipment, mill liners, rock crushers, and the heavy-duty tooling that keeps Caterpillar 797s and Komatsu 980s running
  • Manufacturing, where time is money and a single equipment breakdown stops the line
  • Railway, where bolts hold the track down and impact wrenches do not give the torque control that the application demands
  • Construction, where needs change quickly and the partner has to adjust as fast as those changes come

The Promise

The right tool for your job, regardless of brand. The right calibration, traceable to standards. The right person on the phone, every time. Same shop, same names, four decades on.

That is the version of the story we tell. The version we live by is simpler than that. The bolt has a number written on the side of it. Our job is to make sure the tool we sold you, rented you, calibrated, or repaired puts that number into the bolt. Cleanly, repeatably, with paperwork.
